The center for Diagnosis, Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine (CEDIMAT), the “Plaza de la Salud”, is one of the most modern medical centers en the Dominican Republic, Central America, and the Caribbean.
CEDIMAT initiated operations on March 17th, 1999. A patronage presided by His Eminence Reverend Nicholas de Jesus Cardinal Lopez Rodriguez, Metropolitan Archbishop of the city of Santo Domingo, Primate of America, is in charge of it’s administration. This patronage is integrated by distinguished personalities of the Dominican society. Milagros Ureña de Baez, B.A. is the General Director.

 CEDIMAT is the first medical service institution in the country with Telemedicine system available, permanently connected o the Massachusetts General Hospital for information and data exchange, inter-medical counseling and teleconference.
It also offers formation opportunities and updating of Dominican doctors and medical students all over the country, through medical education programs, and scientific investigation.
As a complement to these programs, CEDIMAT has a complete and updated medical library, donated by Juan Manuel Taveras Rodriguez, M.D. This library is available to all doctors, med students, universities and medical institutions in the country.
